Sony has indicated that the next generation PlayStation platform, currently called PlayStation 5 or PS5, will not be ready for release in 2019.

Although Microsoft has not officially revealed its plans for the next generation of gaming platforms, it has promised big announcements at this year's E3.
Sony revealed that the PS4 platform sales reached 96.8 million devices, which makes it close to achieving sales of 100 million devices during the next quarter, which is a high point in its record.
It also showed 36.4 million subscribers to the PlayStation Plus service, but the Japanese company expects its operating profit to fall 10 percent in the next quarter due to costs associated with the development of PlayStation 5.
